About/F.A.Q.

What is Bview?

Bview is a movie review site that encourages others to chip in and become movie reviewers of their own. It avoids the Blockbuster films and the over popular films to favor the smaller, underdog and unwell known films.... and the cheesy ones. Got to love the Cheese. We especially love B movies, horror films, old school favorites, unkwnowns and anything else that might be awesomely bad. Any movie that lacks in plot, budget or popularity are movies that we want to expose to the world.   There's nothing I like better than finding a movie that went under the radar that's a gem. Though I do love a movie that I can laugh with just as much.

Wait.... you mean I can become a Bviewer?!

Yes, yes you can. In fact, we're actively searching for new people to make Bviews.

How do I become a Bviewer?

Find a movie that fits your description of a "B" film and review it! When you're done send me your Bview (hopefully with photo stills from the movie itself) via e-mailing it to carissa_neuharth@hotmail.com with "Bview submission" as the subject line. I'll read it to see if it's what this site is looking for. If it is, I'll e-mail you back for a request for an "About Me" section. If you have another site, this is the place to promote it, you'll also need a photo for this section and a brief biography of yourself. It'd also be nice if you included what times of movies you enjoy/plan on Bviewing.  After I get back a good "About Me" (I might tweak it a bit) then your page goes up on the web and you are now a Bviewer you sexy thing, you!

What movie should I Bview?

I get asked this a lot.  Really, the choice is yours. If it's for something overly popular (i.e. Spiderman, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.), I'm probably not going to accept it.  But so far, everyone I've suggested this to has done a great job of coming up with unique titles that I haven't thought of, so I really don't think this should be a big issue. Really think of your favorite movies that are "so bad they're good" or maybe just unknown.  Those are the type of movies we're looking to review on this site. If you don't know what I'm talking about then browse the Bviews we've had done for inspiration.

Do you have any guidelines for making a good Bview?

Funny you should ask, I actually have an entire page just dedicated to showing people interested how to write a good Bview that will be accepted.  If you go there, read that and follow those guidelines, you're Bview is going to shine above the rest and find it's home here on the site.  Really, I'm excited about having new Bviewers, but I'm also excited about having a site that can be depended on for consistent Bviews.

Why not accept all Bviews?

There's nothing I get annoyed with more than going to a review website that's flooded with lots and lots of unhelpful reviews that I have to read through to find maybe one that's moderately helpful. So I personally am going to screen each one to keep the site consistent and of high quality. If I do reject your Bview ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST.  I will send you advice on what to change to make it as a Bviewer so that if you rewrite it then it will probably be accepted the second time around.

So, do I get anything for becoming a Bviewer?

Besides my eternal love you mean? That's not enough? Damn it. Seriously though, you should become a Bviewer because you think it would be fun and not to receive soemthing, but for those of you who enjoy watching and reviewing B films, I've set up a reward system for contributing to the site.  It's based on how many approved Bviews that you've written and here it goes:

  • 1: At one Bview, you become a Novice Bviewer. As a novice you get your own profile on the site with a bio on it where you have the right to promote your own site/business/art/etc. The profile must include a photo of yourself.
  • 5: At 5 Bviews, you drop the Novice title and get the right to call yourself a Bviewer. I personally draw you an avatar (character of yourself) to represent you on the site. Where does this avatar go? For now it goes on the Bviewers page where I write a brief bio on why you're an asset to the site to help promote your Bviews to be read.  Eventually this avatar will also be used to represent you in the forums.
  • 10: At 10 Bviews, you become a Preium Bviewer. Premium Bviewers have all of their Bviews, Articles, Drinking Games and their profile personalized as shown in this sample. I design the page for them based on color and theme request of the Bviewer. Note that you get your avatar at the top of every page that's yours and clicking on the top brings them back to your profile, not the Bview home.  Also, you get the right to advertise your sites on all your pages, not just your profile AND the new section shows only your new material to make it easier for fans to see what you've been up to.
  • 25: At 25 Bviews you become the Face of Bview (which no one has reached yet so I can't show you an example really..) You're more than a valuable contributor, but you are a indisposable member of the site and to celebrate that your avatar goes on shuffle at the top of the generic Bview pages so that you're recognized as a staple of the site.
  • 50: At 50 views, you become a Bview Celebrity. For all your hard work, I will send you a free t-shirt from the store (that I have yet to create... but I will by the time someone makes it to 50 Bviews). Plus, your avtar will get a face lift and will actually be put on a shirt and sold in the Bview store!

I'm going to do my best to prepare myself ahead of time so that when people reach a mark their upgrade happens immediately, but due to life being busy and updating to be a lot of work, I might not always get to it in time. If not, please allow up to two weeks after your upgrade for your level to be updated.

The movie I want to Bview has already been reviewed, now what?

I am going to accept multiple Bviews for any particular film, but only if they say something new or interesting.  If your opinion is different from the other or if you have other reasons for why you felt the same way, feel free to submit a new Bview for it.  Keep in mind while writing it that it won't replace the other Bview on the site, so both Bviews should stand strong on their own without becoming overly repetitious.

How can I have someone else Bview a film I like?

Secretly wishing that we'd Bview a film? One of your favorites? Well, we do take requests! There is no guarantee that we'll watch them, but we'll definitely take them into consideration (that's a strong consideration). You can e-mail me your suggestions at carissa_neuharth@hotmail.com and I'll talk to the crew and one of us should get to it, especially if it's on Netflix.

Want a guarantee that we'll Bview your film quicklike? Send the movie to

Carissa Neuharth
P.O. Box 10266
Fargo, ND 50106

And I'll personally Bview your movie within the week. Mostly cause I'm a sucker for free movies. ;) Sadly, I'm only half kidding here. You don't have to send me anything to get me to do a Bview though, if you request, we'll do our best to get around to it.

Who designed and created this site and what programs did they use?

The sites founder Carissa "Rizzy" Neuharth (me) designed the entire site using The Adobe CS2. She has a lot of fun testing her skills by updating the graphics of the site from time to time and parts of the lay out. I didn't do it on my own, I've used some lovely brushes and fonts found on Deviant Art from the users ~ivy-poison, =Shad0w-GFX, Aless1984, Sabriena, and *KeepWaiting. Go check out there stuff. It's people like them that really boost the look of this site to new levels.

Can I design my own page/create my own avatar?

At this time, I'm not allowing other people to design their own pages or avatars simply because I want the site to have a consistent look and I have a strong idea for what I want this site to look like/represent. With time, I may loosen up on this ruling, but for now I really am doing this site for design practice as much as anything else and so insist on doing this to keep the look of the site consitant as stated before. You can, however, feel free to add a link to your own site where people can see your art and design work.

Can I use the avatar you made me for this site elsewhere?

Of course! I created it for you and so you can use it however you'd like. If you'd like the orginal file for the character before I posted it, I can certainly send that to you as well.
