I've been beyond blessed with many interests, dreams and hopes in my life. Here are a few of the things I'd like to accomplish in my life time.
Nightmares as Day Dreams (working title)
The book I'm working on currently is about 3 siblings who's parents have named them after the big 3 slasher film killers: Jason, Freddy and Michael... oh, and Freddy and Jason are girls. The entire family is delightfully neurotic, but completely removed from reality, seeing the world through the filters of the movies they've been raised on.
The book shows their struggle with hiding from their dreams, too hung up on their own quirks, guilts and obligations to take a chance for what they want in their life. As their pasts come crashing back into their static town, they must learn to trust and understand each other in order to move forward.
The target audience for this book is movie lovers. Specifically moviegoers who loved films like The Royal Tenenbaums, Stranger than Fiction, and other character driven films. Since the characters see their lives as a film, they describe their world in terminology that would create visual triggers to the savvy moviegoer making it a nice transition piece for someone who normally may not enjoy reading due to not being used to the literary devices used. It also calls out to the cult like fans of slasher films, making numerous references for them to hunt down like Easter eggs and treating the characters interest of the films with respect and love.
